The best mentorship practices from all over Russia, the robots from “Star Wars”, augmented reality glasses, fast dating cafés – the first Russian forum “Mentor” took place in Moscow at the Exhibition of Achievements of the National Economy from February 13th to February 15th.
The mentorship system is being actively restored in various fields of our country. Its importance is becoming more and more evident both at the level of state power and private business. The Agency for Strategic Initiatives organized the Forum “Mentor” for the purpose of developing the professional field of mentorship. Representatives of federal authorities and large business corporations, HR agencies and educational organizations participated in it.
“Mentorship is the chemistry of human relations. And their love for a common cause”, say the forum’s organizers. There are a lot of people in Russia who share this idea. More than 10,000 people from 711 cities of our country attended the Exhibition of Achievements of the National Economy from February 13th to February 15th. The average age of participants is 31 years old. In total, more than 230 speakers gave 120 lectures, open discussions and master classes.
The organizers defined 10 main topics of the forum, namely: “How to Find a Mentor in Production, Business and Social and Educational Fields?”, “How to Become a Mentor?”, “Formation of a Professional Mentor Society in Russia”, “Mentorship as a Driver of Social and Cultural Changes in Society”, and many others. As part of the forum, heads of the leading enterprises of the countries told us why it is their mentorship systems work effectively. Andrey Komarov, a Shareholder of ChelPipe Group, presented a mentorship system which underlies the corporate educational program on training high-qualified blue-collar workers for the metallurgical industry – “The Future of White Metallurgy”. He explained in his speech what role the program plays in the training of young specialists and refreshment of human resources of the company.
Alexey Dronov, Managing Director of Pervouralsk New Pipe Plant (PNTZ, part of ChelPipe Group), key mentors and top managers of ChelPipe Group engaged in the development of dual education and support of mentorship practices, also represented ChelPipe Group at the Forum “Mentor”.
ChelPipe Group presented information about the company in a popular and entertaining way. R2G2, which was a replica of the robot from “Star Wars”, greeted the visitors of the company’s stand. Then the guests, with the help of augmented reality glasses, went on an industrial tour, which Forbes Magazine and many other reputable publications called the most beautiful, around “Height 239”, a shop that manufactures large-diameter pipes. The visitors also had another virtual tour – to the “ETERNO” plant. There was a standalone interactive panel which enabled the participants to take a close look at all training stages of young specialists, from school to industrial production.
On the last day Sergey Kirienko, Deputy Head of the Presidential Executive Office, proposed to make the forum annual. “Mentor-2018” culminated in a solemn award ceremony of the contest “Best Mentorship Practices”, where ChelPipe Group won a prize place.
