Workers of the leading Russian industrial enterprises and students of Russian higher education institutions aged under 28 years will participate in the championship. It is held in accordance with the standards of the international organization WorldSkills International (WSI). WorldSkills Hi-Tech was first held in 2014 and was attended by 160 participants from 85 companies. As many as 300 competitors from 130 organizations took part in the championship in 2016.
According to preliminary estimates, more than 320 people are expected to show their professional skills in more than 30 competitions in 2017. The championship will be held at the international exhibition center “Yekaterinburg-Expo”. The area exceeding 40 thousand square kilometers will house competitive, business and presentation zones. The event is organized by the WorldSkills Russia Union with the assistance of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation, the Agency for Strategic Initiatives of the Russian Federation and the Government of Sverlovsk Oblast
The winners of corporate competitions, which are organized by the enterprises, will also participate in WorldSkills Hi-Tech. The ChelPipe Group held its second corporate professional skill championship in accordance with WorldSkills’ procedure this summer. Following its results, there was created a team of 14 young experts which will represent the company at WorldSkills Hi-Tech.

It bears reminding that the ChelPipe Group’s employees won one gold and three bronze medals in the 2016 championship. Our young experts expect to win more medals this year.
For the first time students of Russian higher education institutions will participate in WorldSkills Hi-Tech. 67 education institutions have already filed their applications. Qualifying rounds are currently held. They will establish the winners in such categories as “Art and Design”, “Production and Engineering Technologies” and many others.
It should be noted that the principal objectives of WorldSkills Hi-Tech are to increase the prestige of blue-collar jobs, to improve professional qualification standards and to provide high-tech branches of industry with high-quality personnel.
